Achivements

Last fall Odin started classes at a different gymnastics gym. He took a class once a week for a few months. Late this winter Odin was invited to join a different class. He was asked to join because the coach noticed his skill, focus, and enthusiasm.  The new class met twice a week for two hours - four hours a week instead of just one. Things progressed and earlier this month he tried out for the boys gymnastics team. He was offered to option to join the team, but in the end we decided to give it one more year. He loves the sport and we just don't want to push him into anything. The gym is very supportive of the decision and is excited to have him in any capacity.

In other news, his reading is really taking off. At school he took a computer based reading assessment. We knew he was getting better and better as he reads anything and everything.  Turns out he is currently reading at a 4th grade level!

** Also over the weekend he mastered the monkey bars!**

Fancy weekend.

yesterday, real camera
This weekend was our anniversary. We celebrated by going to a couple of weddings. As we were all dressed up, we used it as an opportunity for a family picture or two.

Today, cell phone camera!

Hang time

Handstands in the house are not the best idea. They can get a little . . . dangerous.

They are a much better idea outside, where the flowers are.

Outside has much more room, where falling is part of the fun.
I even made a few attempts, this being my best one.

Horsing around

On Sunday we did an awful lot of horsing around. It was HOT HOT HOT that day.
The boys made Belgian waffles for breakfast, they were fantastic!
Then we headed to the farm to see the horse that I am training. The farm has just adopted three goats and Odin loved playing with them.

I am training the bigger one! Her name is Zarah. The farm also has three mini's.
After that we came home and watered the lawn, with squirt guns!
Until we find a 3rd squirt gun we took turns with the camera.

I took this picture!
He's still not too sure about the slip and slide.
After all of that I took a little yard nap, it was lovely!

Busy busy

We have had a lovely weekend. A quick trip to Portland yesterday morning to pick up a new furnace for the RV (also a trip to Powells and a crazy army surplus/rafting store). We all found something fun. We came home and had a little time to play before heading to Odin's school carnival. As his school is only about a mile away we rode our bikes. Thankfully he didn't win a cake in the cakewalk, it would have been hard to bring home. I baked a cake for the cakewalk, it was one of the last remaining cakes. I was getting scared that nobody would choose it. Then as Odin was walking someone else won a cake and she picked mine! I guess elementary school isn't yet ready for a lime-aid cake complete with sugared lime slices.

Here's a pic on the way to school to drop it off... I drove it in on Friday.
We met up with Odin's buddy at the carnival. They have a ton of fun together.  There was a photo booth at the event and it had a box of disguises and accessories. There was nothing but giggles coming out of the booth the whole time.

The raft trailer is coming along nicely. It is not finished, but getting closer every day.

Lots of flowers this Spring. Here is a sampling from our yard.

Project updates

The raft trailer is now painted. It looks pretty nice. John is working on the new decking. He has a base coat of varnish and now just needs to build up a few more. It is going to look completely different when we are done with it.

I have finally put the sewing machine away. Odin's bed fort is done! We added some more windows, his design. I like the way it turned out.
I mistakenly thought yesterday was class picture day so he dressed up.
And put gel in his hair, you know to look fancy!

Last weekend we stopped at an Estate Sale and found this little cabinet. It now nicely houses all of Odin's art supplies. And it does a much better job than the plant stand that we had been using.
I walked right past the cabinet, but Johno made sure we brought it home.
