"Mom come Look!"

Of all phrases that makes me not want to see what is going on, "mom come look" tops my list.
He always says it with a certain level of triumph, there is so much satisfaction in his voice that I need to take a moment before I see what wonderful thing he has done.
This morning as I was getting dressed he was working hard.
As I entered his room he announced, " I made a nest!" (using all the clothes from my dresser).

Bicycle randomness

While riding our bikes earlier today.

Odin: I knocked on my helmet,
To see who was in my head.
It was a leopard Frog!

Memorial Weekend -grill

This year as an anniversary present to each other we bought a new grill. We had been shopping around for a while, then when we decided what we wanted, it was out of stock. The salesman thought more were coming over the weekend- so on Sunday we finally got it.
It works great, thus far, and came with this really cool box.

Odin was working most of the time Johno was putting it together.

It took a new vacuum bag in the shop vac to clean up, luckily he was a great sport with that part too. There are still bits all over the house, and I thought I did a pretty good job with containment.

Memorial Weekend - river

The plan for the weekend was an overnight river trip. We picked new river (for us) and gave ourselves an out - we stashed a bike at the midway point. Just in case we were not able to find a campsite we could haul out and one of us, Johno, could ride back to the jeep. We elected that option on Saturday. The river was lovely, a short stretch of rapids (always a plus in my book), water was clear, there were a few nice places for swimming, and it was HOT. The one downside was the water level. I checked the gauge before we left, and it indicated sufficient water, but not with our load. After about 7 miles of nice paddling a little over four mph, we hit rock after rock and slowed to about two or less mph. Most of the rocks we hit were slippery and plant covered, but we figured out hull could not take another 15 miles of abuse.
We arrived at the midway point and made dinner before Johno went back for the Jeep. It made for a long day but we were all glad we did it.
