Homebound

This morning started out a bit rough. Odin awoke at 6am, he was not feeling well. I was able to get him resettled, and we all slept for another hour or so, but when he woke up this morning he had some sort of stomach bug. Once we got moving he seemed much better, back to hopping around. So we made muffins for breakfast, vacuumed all of the oatmeal that spilled as we were making muffins, and ate. Bad idea. His stomach said, "No thank you".
He perked up right after, but it was confirmed. We were going to stay home today.
We had a lovely day, I was pleasantly surprised.
We played board games, drove r/c trucks, watched a little tv, took Sampson for a little walk and didn't eat.
He seems mostly better now, hopefully it is just a short lived bug.

The biggest news of today is that he decided to wear underwear. And wore them all day, despite not feeling well he did a great job, no accidents.

Maybe staying home sometimes is a good thing.

Mad Libs

Scene:
Odin and Michelle are seated at the table eating some blueberry corn bread for breakfast. Odin is enjoying the meal and is in a rather goofy mood.

Odin:
This is good stuff!

It's good to stuff in your mouth!

St. Pat

At school they made leprechaun masks of sort, painted with sponges and all. He was all about modeling until the camera came out. . . but I managed a good one after showing him how it was done.

That was the extent of our celebrating this weekend.

Little Things

Many of you know, Odin is a bit more active than most kids his age. He jumps higher, runs longer, and takes longer to get tired. It has been really exciting watching him figure out how to do new thing. Hopping on one foot took a little while to master, but now he does it with ease. Today he figured out how to skip and it filled me with such immense pleasure watching him figure it out.
Since he was born I have seen many kids learn how to skip and it is one of the most intriguing things to watch. They know the process and what is supposed to happen, but putting it all together takes some time.
He was supposed to start a Preschool tumbling class last week, but wasn't feeling well (fever again) so we passed. Hopefully he can go this week. We have watched the class and he really is excited to go. I think it will be great for him. Very active and very physical, just what he (and in turn, I) need!

It was nicer this evening, sunny and warmish, after taking Samo for a walk, Odin rode his tricycle. He has not ridden since the fall, when he was intermittently pedaling, but today he just started right up, like he has been doing it all along. He chances so fast, while remaing exactly the same...

Bugs

Doctor visit went well last night. Ears good. Lungs good. Throat good. White count good. Looks like it was just a virus. Odin has been very polite through the whole thing. Last night around 4am he was requesting help, "I need somebody to come in and help me". I went in and helped him change into a cooler shirt, and he said thank you as I was leaving. So sweet and refreshing.
He was feeling much better this morning, but still not up to normal energy. So we have had an interesting day of restless, but no real energy.

The good, bad.

Busy weekend. We got a new sofa. We have been looking for about a year.. lazily, We didn't really NEED anymore furniture, but we were in need of comfortable seating. It all came together on Saturday, picked it up in Sunday. Even had time for a swim at the Y. Odin has discovered goggles, hardly has his head above water now. Wonderful.
The bad. He is sick again. Fever last night (post swimming).. Same this afternoon.. As you can see he is ASLEEP on the sofa. That just doesn't happen. We have an appointment this evening for him. He was in two weeks ago (dual ear infections) after the amoxacillian his behavior improved, but he still had a cough and yeah, we are headed back tonight. My first thought last night was pneumonia (flashback to last March - very simillar circumstances).. Hopefully it will not be the same result this time..

This one's for you Julie

It seemed oddly appropriate that you gave Odin a brown short as a baby present.. A, toddler sized, brown shirt at that. Really it was pure genius. He didn't outgrow the shirt in a month, and now we can have family brown day. Hopefully I can get you a pic of all of us, we'll see.
