If it were not for swimming . . .

Today would have been my preferred weather for summertime. Crisp in the morning, warming in the day and crisp again in the evening. Odin and I took full advantage today. On the way to school he asked to go to a playground when I picked him up. While at the playground, I wanted a picnic. So we went and found one, and took it to another park. Then a little bike riding at the park across the street. If only the whole month could be like this.

Two wheels

Beautiful fall day today. Weather was perfect, crisp this morning, breezy this afternoon. I thought it the perfect day for a bike ride. Instead of using the add-a-bike, we tried the two wheeler. He has dabbled and then gone back to the training wheels many times. It is an easy decision to make because he has two bikes. One tiny one and one appropriately sized one. The idea was the tiny one would help him feel more comfortable when on two wheels.
Today was different. He was having a blast and just kept on going and going. I always knew he was determined and persistence, today he used it for good.

Recent happenings

This weekend we were home after being away for the past three. We took it pretty easy. It was the ski swap, Odin got some new boots (and that is all we bought).
Sunday afternoon we were playing in the yard when a neighbor boy came out and decided to teach Odin how to play football. He showed Odin how to kick, throw and catch (and then never actually let him try). At one point he kept yelling "TRY AND TACKLE ME ODIN". After the 'lesson' they played a bit of football. Odin still needed some coaching on the fly. But he confirmed that he is truly my child when the neighbor would yell "TOUCHDOWN" Odin would crouch down and touch the ground.
The 'game' ended when a puppy came out, then we got Sampson out and it was chaos of dogs and boys in the yard.

Travels

The last few weekends have brought us near and far, I'll fill in the details later, but had to share these two family portraits one week apart.

It's not just a phone . . .

Taken over the last year or so with my mobile phone. I still think that is pretty remarkable. Aside from not having a flash these are better than my sister's 1st digital camera. The photographer in me loves the sun flare.
