Valentines Day 2013

Thank you Jamie, as always, for doing the leg work on Odin's Valentine! Once the glowstick was added they became very hard to photograph.

Maps

Odin drew this map last May. I might have put a pic up then, but I am still impressed with it so thought I would do it again.

In fact I am so impressed that I thought I'd post a "real" map of the area that he drew. I wonder if cartography is hereditary.

On another note, check this out. Odin was making fun of the dog. Dog didn't care one bit.

Dog lottery

But, before I get to that I must say, Hello again! It has been quite the absence. We are all still here. And now with a furry plus one!
We decided that it was time to start looking for a new dog. New to us at least. We were looking for someone between 2-4 years old and 30-60ish pounds. I went to the shelter on Thursday morning and met this guy. I was so impressed with him that I took John back later that day. We then picked Odin up from school so he could meet him.
He came home with us on Friday! He is almost five years old. His pedigree is Blue heeler and something else, German shepherd perhaps?
We are mostly settled on the name Freki.
So far, we are all very pleased. I think he is going to be a lovely addition to the family.

A thin coating

We awoke this morning with a few inches of snow on the ground.

Truth be told, I went to bed last night with a thin veneer of snow on the ground, and was awoken early this morning by a robo call from school announcing a 2 - hour late start.  I then turned off the alarm and fell back asleep.

It is still barely hanging around still this afternoon. Largely it has turned into slush. Shoveling is completely optional.

9 more days!

Christmas is fast approaching. We have been busy busy busy. This weekend we went to see the Nutcracker and today Odin and I went skiing. There is a chance of snow in town tomorrow and Tuesday.
I will have pictures up again soon . . .

It's beginning to look a lot like . . .

But before we get to that, I suppose you want to know about our Thanksgiving.

We did something new this year. Something that we (Johno and I as a married couple) have never done before. We stayed home for Thanksgiving - and did not invite anyone over. It was just the three of us. We had a lovely day. It was relaxing, restful, quiet and really quite nice. We had lamb, spinach pie, and yams for an early dinner. Knowing that we would need a reason to get out of the house for a little while I volunteered to feed the animals at the farm that evening. After we returned home we enjoyed some pumpkin cheesecake. It was so nice.

I was going to show you a picture of the wreath that Odin and I made this evening. But it seems that I have reached my photo size limit on this site. I shall have to look into that before I add more images.
